I did learn what I thought I would. I know so much more about AIDS and STI's. Before taking this class, I didn't know the difference between many of the STI's or many things about AIDS. By learning this stuff, it helps and encourages many people to have a healthy sex life. We also learned some stuff I didn't expect to learn, such as many of the things about "safer sex" and about ways to have a healthy sex life. A couple of our guest speakers talked to us about our sex lives and how to improve them for ourselves and for health reasons. I think this was a really important part of the class because everyone can relate to it. If not exactly at this moment, but at sometime in the future. The most useful information from this class was the signs and symptoms of STI's. For some of the people, they can be asymptomatic. I think people learned that if you are sexually active, they should get tested because they learned that. Also, some symptoms that we learned about can be symptoms of other things, and by knowing this it will help people not to ignore these symptoms and go get tested. I don't think any of the information we learned in this class wasn't useful. We can only benefit from it. I think for next time, the group topic presentations should be allowed to be on just more than AIDS. It should also include STI's around the world as well. I think this is a very important topic to be taught in college. Some people don't get the chance to learn about this stuff in high school . Also, most college students are sexually active, so it informs them about the importance of a healthy sex life.

I would have to agree with you on almost all points. The class had so much useful information it was hard to not find a use behind it. Knowing the signs and symptoms of STI's is definately a good thing for everyone to learn in the event they contract a STI.
ReplyDeleteEspecially in smaller high schools teaching of sex and anything related to it is far and few between at least where i went to school. So having it available in college can only lead people to make better judgments.
I agree entirely. Like you I really learned a lot of things this term that I didn't know before. I think that the most important thing like you said was the signs and symptoms of STI's. I think that everyone who takes this class probably takes away the fact that they could have an STI that is asymptomatic. I think this helps a lot of people be motivated to go get tested. This is a very good thing that could lead to alot more people knowing and practicing safer sex techniques.
ReplyDeleteIt was quite interesting that some STIs can go asymptomatic and it was a godd thing that we took this class. I have learned more than I expected from symptoms to cures or no cure at all.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with you that some people don't get to learn this stuff in high school because I didn't. I was taught about STDs in in middle school. With STIs increasing among college students, I think it is important that students get informed about STIs.
